Electric 3 wheelers don't currently qualify for a federal tax credit, although they did a few years ago. Hopefully the next administration can quickly change that. Some states do however give rebates for electric motocycles and autocycles. Check with your state and let us know.
Someone know of or want to put together a spreadsheet of state incentives?
I live in NJ and was bummed to hear that only 4 wheelers can get the $5K rebate here. We can get rebates for EV chargers though.
I expect that we could get the laws changed with some coordinated effort.
I'd like to see the tax credit eliminated. It distorts the market and it punishes the companies that pioneered EVs, Tesla and GM. It also punishes innovative companies like Aptera who reduce battery costs by increasing efficiency and rewards companies that get range by brute forcing the problem with a big battery. Ford has to put in a 100KWh battery to get the same range as a Tesla Model Y with a 75KWh battery, but they are able to sell if for less money after the tax credit.
