I really hope the laws are changed such that Aptera qualifies for incentives. The point is to get people into efficient vehicles that are better for the environment and there's none better than Aptera.

Yes, as discussed earlier the act allows you to transfer your tax credit to the “financial entity” processing your purchase or lease. There is concern in the industry that dealers would inflate the initial purchase price before applying the tax credit discount (which doesn't cost them anything). Dealers sometimes do this with manufacturer rebates currently.
@fanfare yes, we should just force those who manufacture goods and or supply services to set prices to meet the needs of the consumers who have supplied no capital, labor or innovation. Those who do not wish to comply with their job assignments should be sent to re-education camps. (Sounds like paradise. 😳🤓)
@Tim Dean (15565) Not exactly, but perhaps the full price is to be paid for the effects of fossil fuel internal combustion engines on the ecology. The full price. And perhaps not defray this cost on to others who do not participate in such filth? If each should be compensated in accordance with their contribution, then each should pay in accordance to their contribution to the damage they have done as well. Fair enough? lolBut no, right now the fossil fuel lobby has it such that oil companies are heavily subsidised. If the price of gas were to not include such subsidies and actually take into account the costs of environmental cleanup and the adverse effect it has on people's health then, from a free and fair economic vantage point that would truly employ the invisible had in putting electric vehicles in quite a formidable light. Total cost of ownership is not entirely individualistic either as currently those who are affected more by pollution are usually the ones who cause it the least. And do't even get e started in the true cost of war and the Military Industrial Complex and how petroleum is inextricable interlinked with the extremely high number of casualities as well as how the national wealth is diverted to support such endeavours when such resources could be better put to use for the betterment of humankind as well as the finite host planet in which we reside. Because, if we are not mindful of the wholistic / holistic picture the future we are about to step into will be a far cry from ...paradise.
@fanfare oh, the hypocrisy! Increasing cost of home heating & transportation injures the poor, working poor & middle class, not the rich people who can afford $90k EVs so they can “virtue-signal” to their rich, “woke” leftist friends. If the rich really cared, they would live in tiny-houses and sell their private jets & vacation homes. How rich is Obama, Biden & Sanders after a lifetime of “public service” milking taxpayers & selling influence? I want an Aptera to SAVE MONEY during it operational life and because it looks so awesome! (I’m a technical geek. 🤓) Stop with the “tax credits” for rich people. How about “cash for clunkers” for the working poor?!? Btw, the benefit of having money is that it gives you choices, hubris demands that you take away the free choice freedom from others because “you just know better”.
Man there is a lot of pending legislation. We should all work together to get the best for the industry. I know so many young kind that lives could be change with a vehicles like the aptera. If we are going to save the world from climate change we can’t just make luxury EVs for the middle and upper class. Crappy cars are a poverty trap. Let's work to get he provisions of H.R. 5751 (116th): Electric Vehicles for Underserved Communities Act of 2020 put in to the Electric CARS Act as well as the provisions of Chuck Schumer’s Cash for Gassers or whatever he is calling.

So is is what is on the Sentor’s page who wrote The Electric CARS Act. The Electric Cars Act would improve this vital tax credit by:
Eliminating the per manufacturer cap, allowing consumers access to the tax credit for the next 10 years, regardless of the manufacturer from which they purchase their car;
Allowing buyers to use the tax credit over a 5-year period, or *****apply the credit on the spot at the dealership to reduce the price of the vehicle, making the credit more applicable to those without large tax liability********; and
Providing a 10-year extension of tax credits for alternative fuel vehicles and charging infrastructure to incentivize the buildout of this important infrastructure around the country.
I was wrong on the Electric CARS Act. I am searching to find the bill that provides the voucher. It was specifically for low income people to be able to get into an EV. Then there is Chuck Schumer’s cash for clunkers with a $7500 plus discount for seeing the government your ICE car.
It looks like the CARS act of 2021 extends the $2,500 credit for 2 and 3 wheeled vehicles until 2032. You can take it as a tax credit yourself on your annual tax return or assign it to the entity financing the purchase or providing the lease. It also allows you to carry forward any excess credit. I don't see anything that would increase the credit to the same $7,500 credit as 4-wheeled vehicles like mentioned earlier in this thread.
@Robert Garry. Are you referring to cars or motorcycles. No use bringing up cars when talking about the Aptera which in the US is registered as a motorcycle. Thanks.
@Kerbe #12705 Hi Kerbe. All I can really speak for is my own state, California. The Aptera will be considered a three-wheeled motorcycle. Are you referring to its classification for registration or insurance? One of the big legislative promoters of the Autocycle was Paul Elio who first addressed this category. You might have more ideas of this at your state's motor vehicle department. This is a useful article (2017), https://www.ncsl.org/research/transportation/transportation-review-autocycles.aspx One reason that the Aptera may be protected from more rigid NTSA and governmental requirements is that it is considered a motorcycle. If it had more rigid standards and testing to go through, it may be the end of the project.
At this stage, I don't know if Aptera will qualify for the incentives in BC or federally . The province is big on going green so I will be lobbying to have Aptera included...
I really hope the laws are changed such that Aptera qualifies for incentives. The point is to get people into efficient vehicles that are better for the environment and there's none better than Aptera.

"selling", right? COOL! "Cash For Gassers".

The Electric CARS Act of 2021 will provide a $7,500 voucher not a tax credit for three wheel vehicles.

In Southern California Edison utility territory, for 4-wheel BEVs we get
$2500 State,
$7500 Federal direct tax CREDIT (not just an income deduction), &
$1000 utility credit from SCE.
In British Columbia, we get a $3000 Provincial and $5000 Federal cash incentive on EVs (not a tax credit) Hope it applies to Aptera!
We will make Aptera great again ...
