(circled in red) the area of transparent material there seems like a unnecessary existence assuming teh transparent material is structurally weaker than the main body material. would much rather have that weaker material only where teh visual openings are, so there can be more structural strength or less mass due to better structural perportioning. another way to allow smaller less mass car: https://www.aptera.us/forum/main/comment/605c013497c14b00574f08a9
@my_discord_number_is_0328 The area you've indicated isn't "transparent material" - it's the glossy black side of the rear hatch. It will be made of either the same structural composite sandwich as the rest of the body or of carbon fiber (the door and hatch material is still under discussion). If you look closely at the attached image you'll see the edges of the panels: I've circled the same area in yellow.
@fanfare In one of the videos the fact that the cells can bend slightly in one direction is mentioned. This is why they are mounted on only the moderately curved sections of the body, facing toward the sky. Trying to mount them on the compound curves of the body sides would be an exercise in futility, I would think.
As they've been testing cells (and cell locations) using a body buck on Chris Anthony's roof for more than a year, I'm guessing they've pretty much maximized both the number of cells and their placement.
@Len It's not just you - there are several members who have duplicates. And it's not an "every time" thing. Plus, only the poster can delete their posts. I hope Aptera moves the forum to a better system, soon!
