Yes, its cute. But will it be safer than Aptera? The video clearly stated it won't be sold in Europe or the USA. Perhaps because unlike Aptera it won't pass safety standards in those places?
Thanks MyDiscordNumber. Not the same car, but another potential world competitor. 800 volt system, ultra-fast 5 minute -100 mile charging, and 600 mile range are eye openers. I have had my eye on the X-Peng and Nio as well. I do like the idea that these are true cars and not an enclosed motorcycle and are built to a higher safety standard. The heavier chassis should provide a more stable ride and resistance to wind without going too wide. The problem is that many of the Chinese cars, like Aptera are concepts and may not be in production. Asia has many cars that are not marketed in the US because of our different needs and more rigorous safety standards. But even if they do not make it over here, they provide more technological know-how and marketing/pricing competition. Like I said before, we should have a flood of competing new EV's from economy 2 seaters to SUV's to luxury sedans. Thanks.
Sandy Munro has asserted that the Chinese are going to swamp the US EV market in the next handful of years. I could easily see this car and similar economy models being the spearhead of such a push.
On the other hand, there is a reason why you hardly see any foreign made pickups in the US. US auto manufacturers lobbied for, and got crippling tariffs applied to them to retain the lucrative market for themselves.
While it seems unlikely at the moment, those same big auto manufacturers could try to use the same tactics again, this time in regard to foreign made EVs.
Has a lot of good features going for it. It looks pretty safe as well. I would imagine that it would qualify for a $7,500 federal rebate as well. Five passengers, two more doors and a ton of cargo room with the rear seats folded are added pluses. The range is great for most people. Thanks for sharing.
