My Aptera model just arrived from the 3D printer and I got a 1:43 scale model of my current vehicle - a GMC Sierra 1500.
Basically it looks like the wheel track is slightly wider and overall width, including the wheel pants, is basically as wide as the truck with mirrors extended. This is not ideal as I do have to fold the mirrors when I park in some spots in town. However, it's not as extreme as I made it out to be in my head. I'm thinking this will be doable where I live and drive. Actual driving won't be a problem. It's just parking that's still giving me some pause here.

Here's a decent overview: https://blog.asphaltkingdom.com/standard-parking-space-dimensions
Parking bay size comparison. I measured the bays at my gym and found them to be 113 inches wide. This is what it would look like parked there.
Actual driving would be a problem for me, as well as parallel parking.
For parallel parking, comparing to a truck's mirror width doesn't help unless you can match that by also putting Aptera's right wheel over the sidewalk, & fold Aptera's left wheel in to body-width.
For driving, adding visual aids for both the Aptera driver AND other drivers won't make it any narrower. It still won't fit between the trucks parked on each side of my narrow streets, when there's another truck double-parked for several minutes slowly letting a passenger out. My 500e zips right past.
Hi Mark,
Do you know the width dimension of the cabin? I'm trying to demonstrate to my wife the size is bigger than it looks. Thanks
Mark,
Nice model. Some people really need this type of comparison!
If anyone needs another.. My mid size truck a Honda Ridgeline RTL-E is 91” from outside mirror to outside mirror And I park it in a tight two bay garage without issues. Would I like a bigger garage?
It would be nice but not worth a change.
I am hoping the AWD w/torque vector adds a slight assist when parallel parking.???
Even though we do not have many curbs in my county....
” They say” the front wheel covers will be inexpensive🤞
