I was thinking about places which might need a front license plate, or for the future Aptera with 4 wheels.
To keep the aerodynamics of the car, Aptera should have a look at what Citroen did with the Citroen SM. The license plate is behind a transparent body part, so no aerodynamic problem from the license plate.
License plates, as a whole, are so 1950's. I'm sure if they started issuing them today, they would be more like a toll tracker, but since we need the dmv to keep their jobs, you would still have to put the registration sticker on the back of your car 🤣🤣🤣
Could the front license plate be painted on or applied with a decal?
Any licence plate for the front is less strategic than the back. It could be bend to fit on the front shape?
I like the idea of it behind an aero cover, unfortunately, the California DMV (and I assume many others) do NOT allow any covering on a license plate.
That said, probably 50% of Teslas don't have a front license plate on them, though they are required. Nobody seems to care. Maybe this would be the same thing, especially since its the front.
Red light cameras don't like covers though. It can cause a glare that obscures the license plate number.
Talking about the Citroen SM, it also had another nice feature which might be nice on an Aptera. It had resin wheels. They were lighter than aluminium or steel wheels. But I don't think that the manufacturer still exist :(
As the Aptera has in-wheel motors, lighter wheels would be good.
I don't know how much it would cost to manufacture such light wheels. I hope that Aptera will install the lightest wheels possible.
It will work if you use a plexiglass license plate instead of a metal plate. In France most plates are made of plexiglass.
Brilliant!
If it works with radar, etc.
I didn't realize BC required a front plate for an autocycle/motorcycle
For "those that might need it!"
I am fortunate in that even my car, in my state, does not need a front plate!
Yeah, I'm going to need one up here in BC, so hopefully that's addressed when they begin international shipping.
