I would like to encourage Aptera Motors to design the upper and lower front suspension A-arms to accommodate the installation of diagonal coil-over shocks.
Diagonal coil-over shocks have always looked very good on vehicles with outrigger wheels and are a classic design. The fast acceleration of the Aptera may make it attractive to the performance minded crowd. It would be news worthy that the most efficient electric vehicle is also a high-performance vehicle, and becoming a favorite of performance minded people. These two characteristics have always been thought of as mutually exclusive of each other.
Diagonal coil-over shocks do not have to be included with the Aptera. Just design the A-arms such that these types of shocks can be mounted. A clear space for the shocks, and places on the A-arms where mounts can be added.
should use push rod suspension similar to all current race car design. Rocker suspensions went out of favor in the 1980's.
I think you should build an EV to compete with the APTERA !
Not a big draw in the market place. Also would take time and resources from delivering an already designed production Aptera. has aero implications as well. Perhaps a feature for some after market vendor
Hey Piston, I hear you. I think that what you are saying is good, but I think that there are few people who would make that conversion, especially if it entailed more cost. I would prefer they keep the current design and get a working pre-production gamma tiered vehicle on the road. If they did find that a front suspension redesign is still feasible, I would like them to entertain a tilt wheel design for more traction and stability. It would also allow them to make the cycle more narrow and not lose any instability. Tilt Wheel was sold to Arcimoto who was working on the Harley-Davidson design. Toyota, Piaggio have great production vehicles out there using this suspension.
Here is just one example, you can google all the rest.
