I was reviewing some of the official Aptera videos and in of them, they mention carrying a stroller (intimating that you could take a small child in the car). Not sure if that was an error or not - at 31 seconds in this:
@#20116 I believe a stroller in that video is just an example of something that will easily fit in the trunk / cargo area. I doubt that marketing video thought through the real world implications of having a LATCH system, issue of seatbelt-mounted airbags being used to hold a child seat in place, etc. I have not yet seen these items be directly addressed. Perhaps they have just not mentioned that their seats will incorporate a LATCH system, since it is very standard nowadays in essentially all regular US cars. NHTSA states that "Nearly every car seat and most vehicles manufactured since September 1, 2002, are required to have the LATCH system." However, the Aptera may get around that requirement since it is an autocycle. So, TBD on whether or not they are including it as a design element until they let us know.
@Len , just sharing a point of clarification that this particular thread has not specifically discussed the third/back seat option discussed elsewhere. I believe we are also exploring whether or not a child seat can be added to the existing passenger seat (i.e., within the existing roadster configuration), given that the Aptera does not have a rear / third seat option. The addition of child seat attachment points (LATCH system) and the issue of the seatbelt-mounted airbags are independent of 2/3/4/5 seater configuration.
For everyone, an additional item to consider is that some states actually require that child restraint seats must be attached to the vehicle's rear seat, especially up to certain ages. That opens up a question of "what if there is no rear seat?", which would need to be investigated separately. Many states do not specify this, fortunately. Some say in rear seat "if available". You can check a summary of your state laws about this at https://saferide4kids.com/car-seat-laws-by-state/.
Since the only option is front passenger seat, one consideration is that there will presumably not be the modern child restraint/car seat latch points that exist in many modern car rear seats (at least I have never heard Aptera mention adding these to the passenger seat). Also, if you have a child seat design that can attach via a standard 3 point seat belt design, then it would be an important consideration to know that the air bags are currently planned to be integrated directly into the seat belts. The passenger air bags would need to be able to be turned off (like in many modern cars for the passenger seat), though I have not yet heard that feature mentioned, either.

Sure, if the State laws allow putting one in the front seat of a vehicle.
