Since most states don’t allow even taillights mounted to movable hatches, I doubt a backup camera would be mounted on a movable hatch when so much rigid real estate is available.
@Daniel Watkins Yes, and that's not the only problem with driving with the hatch open. The rear view camera would be inoperable, pointing skyward, for one thing.
@Daniel Watkins Perhaps an aluminum or wood frame could support the rear hatch. I agree that putting all that stress on the struts/hinges could be excessive.
Maybe Aptera could provide a sort of “canvas back” accessory which would allow driving the car with the rear hatch open to let owners carry occasional large bulky loads? Understanding, of course, that this would hamper high speed use and efficiency, it would still allow us to haul the occasional large TV or BBQ home. Maybe even allow full removal of the rear hatch to form a sort of mini “pickup”?
The Aptera only holds two people, and it seems like the cargo space inside of the car is already adequate for a long trip, unless you are camping. But, if you absolutely have to have a little more carrying capacity, the trailer will have to be designed with the same CFD tools and as part of the greater whole of the car plus the trailer.

I ride but never have pulled a trailer. Have always feared that I would forget it was back there and get to close to the side of the road and have it's wheels go into a rut and cause me to crash. My wife rides her own bike so luggage space has never been a problem. The Aptera looks like it has more than enough cargo space without resorting to pulling a trailer. Also the Aptera looks like the type of vehicle that would be tugging at your mind to go places you've always thought you'd like to visit but never before made the time because of costs.
The photo is not of a ball hitch design. It has a vertical axle pin which holds the single wheel trailer vertical in line with the motorcycle. It can swing up and down, and side to side but not rotate as a ball does. Motions are restricted except to the vertical plane. The trailers with ball attachments have a double wheel single axle trailer. All trailers will dramatically affect Aptera's mileage as shown with Tesla Model Y testing. If this is what the buyer would desire, one might be better off looking at small electric SUV or subcompact hatchbacks. There are many available for about the same price.
Yes, you are correct, in this case it is not a tow ball. I just noticed when going through the Q&A spread sheet there are quite a number of questions about towing a trailer (surprisingly). But even if a trailer 1/2s the range you would still get 600-800km on one charge....more than other EVs do without a trailer.
The thing is people who are interested into an Aptera want the sexy Aptera and not some inefficient boxy SUV thing. So if there is interest why limit the use of the vehicle?
BTW I ride motorcycles myself and asking other bikers about towing a trailer the answer always is: You don't even feel it.

There are tail lights mounted onto the hatch of a Chevy Bolt. On my Chevy volt, they are just reflectors but have been modified to be brake lights too

Great idea!
Sounds a lot like the camping package.
