In 1977, while a student at the University of Idaho, I had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by R Buckminster Fuller at the student union building. He rocked my world. He started his lecture with this, paraphrased from my memory: "The average native English speaker speaks at 100 to 150 words per minute. However, that same native speaker can comprehend speech at 450 words per minute. Therefore, any lecture at less than 400 words per minute is, in my opinion, a massive waste of time. So in order to maximize your time spent with me, this lecture will continue at 400 wpm." And so it was for the next two hours, without a break.
In those two hours, among Bucky's many other topics, he discussed Detroit's lack of interest in aerodynamics, and his semi-successful attempt to change transportation with the Dymaxion 4D Transport (not a car!). I say semi-successful, because Aptera is picking up the baton. Take a look.
I especially liked the zero turning radius. 30mpg with a flathead V8, hauling 10 people. That's impressive!
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
