Competition for Aptera coming in 2023 from a German EV that self charges from its solar cells. This article also highlights a threat to Aptera from large legacy auto manufactures, faced by this EV startup, which should be taken seriously if Aptera gets reasonable market penetration and wants continued success.

Sono Sion could be a good vehicle but it's primarily only the solar that makes it interesting, and even in that category it loses to Aptera.
Hi retmil, I'm with n.bruce in that the more new technology we have, the better the vehicles options that the consumer will have. I want them fighting for my dollar. After calculating the solar generation capability, Aptera has them beat in range per day by a factor of four, but only if one lives in the ideal city and dwelling combination. I myself live in zone 8 but my garage and driveway get very little winter sun. I usually purposely try and find shaded parking when outside the house not only to keep the car cool, but to avoid early paint and interior degradation. But Sion does have the advantage of having the fourth wheel and capacity of 5 passengers and cargo. At this point it is another start-up, most of whom never make it to the finish production line.
I say the more the merrier. The Sion isn't close to the performance of the Aptera, and I see it more as a validation of what Aptera is doing rather than a competitor. It fits more in the class of Aptera's forthcoming 5 passenger sedan, but Aptera is going to be very price competitive with their production technology.
