https://www.aptera.us/forum/aptera-design-discussion/future-battery-upgrade if aptera advertises that they are willing to do battery/motor swaps etc it would add value to buying aptera because customer knows if he wants, aptera can know the best of latest and integrate into his current car rather than force people to buy a whole new car if they want to update... and the cost savings of this would make updating more interesting.
it would also be a for of reusing, better than recycling, for environmental reasons too.
Most of the guys in my EV club have used single or tandem centrally mounted electric motors usually in an ICE to EV remake. The only other company that I see venturing into hubmotors is an automobile, not motorcycle company....Lordstown. But they aren't doing too well at the moment. Otherwise most of our EV motorcycles have been using hubmotors for 4-5 years now. Of course those are the economy motorcycles. The higher quality motorbikes such as LiveWire and Zero use central frame mounted motors. I am keeping my options open right now and will be curious to see the new Tesla Model 2.
OceanDragon - NOT a lot of new cars - rather an avalanche of new cars!
A couple of years ago everybody were still stuck in the normal manufacturing space and trying to figure out an electric motor that would fit on a normal car transmission, gearbox etc
With too many other startups in the -inwheel hub motors and AI controllers even me and you and most of the members here on the forum could also build our own EV or modify our current vehicles/cars with off-the-shelve components :)
This being said, you should then look at other in-wheel manafacturers as #Elaphe do not deal with public or private wannabe's like me
Thanks for sharing. Nice looking car with impressive specs. I like the shooting brake design. It's about the size of a Model Y but with a silhouette more similar to a Land Rover Sport. I didn't see a mention of price. Like I said before, there will be a lot of new cars coming out in the next 2 years.
