It seems that the referral system works only when the code is sent to an email address, not when it is shared in the Forums as a link. It also works best if the person attempting to use the code has not yet created an Aptera account.
Click on the "Rewards" button on the bottom left of each screen here in the forum.

Is it just me or does the math just not work out. You get 26 friends to put down $70, that's $1820 plus the $$100 you put down $1920. You get a free aptera and your friends never make a purchase...
Perhaps we more requirements to this referral program or maybe something worse.
