this probably isnt something for aptera b/c things are probably different enough in the sky to need a very different chasis and different everything really, egronomics to aredynamics etc. but maybe aptera can have a not so optimized but still workable flight system as a option for people who drive more than they fly anyway (which is almost everyone even in industrial markets like farming pesticide planes, fire fighting planes etc)
i heard of planes getting 30 mpg, https://www.wired.com/2009/11/45mpg-at-207mph/
another was a VTOL electric, it was a government project then became a civilian toy and it emphasized being easy to use and when it flew it seems tilted and a bit awkward looking

maybe the best of jet turbine and freepiston can be interchangeable depending on what level in the atmosphere when flying.

https://lilium.com/ electric planes, https://medium.com/predict/breakthrough-fluidic-propulsion-system-could-power-the-drones-aircraft-of-tomorrow-a6fe60da8f89 there was a strange system that used this to roll a turbine in rotation shaft that faced the cabin, for more efficient low speed applications like industrial farming pesticide planes
