Aptera Motors has released a new video, and it is nice.
However, have they made a mistake, or am I reading it wrong, or have they changed the design? At time 2:17, it shows the width of the Aptera to be 77 inches.

If they keep making changes, those kids may be drivers by the time Aptera is available!
I agree that it was not a very mature presentation. And why not state that the roof/ body design allows for forces 5X greater than the weight of the car. With a 250 lb payload those elephants would need to be stuffed animals.
Here is the video and it has been changed. It now says 88 inches at time 2:17. In another thread, the questions was asked if Aptera Motors cares about what we say. This is proof that Aptera Motors reads this forum and pays attention to us. It is nice to be appreciated.
I think this is a great video. Cartoons seem to be the in thing to do during the pandemic. My impression is that this is not aimed at the serious EV buyer but more just to get the word out to the people who haven’t even heard of a Tara or thought about buying an electric vehicle. O.
Not sure about the apparent marketing to pre-adolescent children either. They are not going to be the one buying the vehicle. Not for a decade or two anyway.
Those kids aren't likely to have much success pressuring their parents to get one either. The current model Aptera isn't exactly well suited for the stereotypical soccer mom.
Rather I'd guess the demographics they ought to be spending their marketing budget appealing to is going to be technologically sophisticated adults old enough that their children are grown or of a wider range of ages but with no plans for kids.
Sure I'd like to imagine a day when old Apteras are ubiquitous and all the cash strapped young adults want a used one as their first car. Not much chance of that scenario for a decade or more though.
Well if you don’t know back in in~ 2011 Tom Warhol published his book Aptera in a Green Car book. It was written an level that both a child and adult could appreciate. I have a copy) There were specs in it that a teenager and adult could surely relate too without being into cars
I hear you but.... I am so happy I can share with my six grandsons “ to get them on board with what Gramps is excited about!
And it never hurts to start educating too early “but without bias.” ICE owners are fine people😉 Each innovation gets us to the next! ( e.g ICE to EV)
Guilting folks into an EV for environmental reasons only works so far - efficient, functional, reasonably priced transportation from point A to B is what gets folks into a vehicle.
I have a feeling that the animator isn't an engineer. Also, if the dove looked down on an Aptera it wouldn't see a "little white car": It would see a black car with white edges...
@kiteboarder It would depend upon the elephants I suppose, two baby elephants perhaps, but two Indian Elephants (The smaller species) full grown start at about 6,500 pounds and to 11,000. So two (On the small side) at 13,000 pounds. I'm not betting on the suspension to win.
The point is still that the occupants aren't crushed even in a crash where they end up under a 13,200Lb truck (based on 2200Lb max spec & crush test of "over 6 times vehicle weight").
*Auto/motorbike parts generally have a safety factor of handling 2 times their expected load. Heavy braking around a tight corner down a steep hill would put nearly all Aptera's weight on one front wheel. That's 2200Lbs, x the safety factor of 2 = 4400Lb. x 3 wheels = 13,200. Now two of your LARGE elephants would crush the car & occupants, so they would no longer care about the suspension.
Well ”YES” about a mistake.... if they are talking about the outside (total)width with the front wheel covers, which is 88” , but... The Front Track is 77”
I thought the video was a waste of time. Not sure why they spent time on a video directed at little kids.
Thanks everyone for posting better links. It turns out that I found it accidentally when I went on YouTube.
Yes 😔Don’t try that at home!
Moose Test yes. Elephant Test no.

Hi Steve.
Hi Chris.
The video seems to be unavailable. It says it was removed by the uploader.

Ya, they could have mentioned low cost to purchase, drive, & maintain 💰.
They also could have had it blow the doors off the Ferrari 😈.

Also not what I'd call "little", unfortunately. In fact it's too big to even drive in Europe!

Well, the shell should support the weight, but I've a suspicion that the front suspension would likely collapse.
My grandkids love it!

So not clear to “ that detail”
I don’t think Aptera’s spec sheet changed?
