Come on boys and girls! (Too many Sandy M. videos?)
Point 0:25 is just an in-motion unclosed door which fits just fine by 0:28.
Point 0:14? I simply can not see anything wrong.
Getting a vehicle from dream to a third iteration looking this good is phenomenal. Please; Let's not invest ourselves in looking for imaginary problems. Who does this really significant innovative autocycle threaten. Certainly not the example used in following video. It's not perfectly correct but pretty darn close.
Thanks for the pictures. The one showing the door attachment point shows it is just an alignment issue of the cover plate, and not a breakage issue. Breakage would be a serious problem but alignment of the cover plate is trivial and not an issue.
The movable window does look like it is inset some, and probably more than they would like, but I am sure it is no problem the way it is.
Thank for these pictures. They are very informative.
This video shows the Sol has sustained damage at the upper door hinge area, on both sides. This is shown at times 0:14 and 0:25. I had expressed concern previously about the door hinges sustaining damage, as a result of strong winds catching the door and blowing it open with great force. I wonder if this could have happened while at the beach making this video. Regardless, this is exactly what prototypes are for.
@jim.foreman@pistonboy Here's a screen capture from today's webinar that shows the upper door hinge attachment point on the new body shell for the beta prototypes. Note that the shape of the "hole" is pretty much identical to what I've been referring to as an "infill panel".
@pistonboy These are the best I could get - sadly, the window is either fully or partially opened in all of the images... From the flow diagrams shown in today's webinar, it would seem that air passes over the openable window without catching on its framework.
If you recall the video of NGB's ride around the parking lot, the windows were down yet you heard no wind noise at all.
This video may not be for us. It may be for potential investors. It's purpose may be to persuade people to invest in the upcoming financial events.
I remember Paul Elio saying investors wanted a completely planned future for his company. He was asked about his plan for advertising his vehicle. When he replied he did not have one yet, and that would come later down the road, investors lost interest. This may be why Aptera founders are also talking about plans for other models including a 4 wheel vehicle, SUV, and even including a semi-trailer design. Perhaps they have to appear forward thinking to win investors confidence.
Noir had orange accents inside the vehicle, and Sol has blue accents. This is apparently one of the other interior designs.
Tomorrow at 9:00 AM, there is another webinar with Jason Hill, who designed the interiors. This would be a good opportunity to ask him what interior names go with what colors. I thought this had been cleared up, but I am not so sure. I will try to ask this tomorrow morning.
I think Jason Hill has done a very good job designing the Aptera.
@pistonboy The three interior choices, originally named "Coast," "Codex," and "Vida," are currently identified on the Aptera website as "Sandy," "Codex," and "Vida" respectively, with this digital image:
@pistonboy Here's a screen capture from today's webinar of Sol's interior: You can see that the carpet and upholstery stitching are blue and that the metal mounts for the three screens appear to have a blue anodized finish (I'm assuming they're aluminum). There also appears to be a blue trim strip across the dashboard. Everything else appears to be dark grey or cream.
Nice ad! This particular ad places the aptera as a sportive, fun car, and not (only) as a hyper efficient commuter. Seems like a smart idea. As for some details:
- I expect the electronics to be fairly complete by now given Steve’s background, but the interface on the screen will no doubt go through many more iterations. Not much deeper insight for me, though I am glad we agree that Pink Floyd is alternative rock, lol. - Sol is looking very stylish!- I was pleasantly surprised that the tent is in already in prototype. As we are still in alpha development, I didn’t think that this accessory would be this far along as well. So nice to see that they take such details seriously. And yes, now I am tempted to be tented!
@gershom Have you watched the video about how Crank has developed the UI? I get the feeling that what we're seeing is pretty much the finished product...
@Kerbe #12705 No disrespect to Crank intended. I work in a design school (actually, the same art school Jason Hill is from) and I meant to distinguish between the underlying UI software, and details of its appearance on the screen. I'm sure basic content and and flow has been established. What I expect (but I could be wrong, I have no privileged info) is that the appearance will be tuned as Crank gets feedback from users. Such as font size, colors , layout etc.
@gershom Didn't think you were disrespectful. Designer Jason Hill said, today, that there was still some tweaking to the UI and UX going on for the move into the beta prototypes.
Well I was joking about the 403 mph because they are parked. In the pic of the UI where they are driving it seems to show the speed of 65. Perhaps when you are parked it shows how many Watts the panels are generating?
Just FYI...here is a screen grab from a Munro Live video. As you can see the values are the same (except speed) and this was the Noir rather than the Sol, so the UI seems to be just a mockup in the alphas.
Someone with more knowledge than I have can speak to what these monitor views tell us (other than commentary on Pink Floyd, the Beasties, et al in the playlist).
Sweet! I look forward to watching the video after I get off work. (No cell phones on the job and online video blocked on company computers)
But at this point, any official messaging other than SHIPPING DATE is just a tease. LOL. 🚗 (surprised there isn't an Aptera Sol in their emoji list.)

The first part shows that they now have solar added, the second part (previous video) shows it without the solar.
Yep; It's a car ad. Nearly a year away from starting deliveries and over two years of back orders and here comes a car ad. Interesting. Nice boys and girls go to the beach ad; Interesting.
Given their budget constraints, I would rather they spent less in high production value videos. Maybe drop another, cheaper video telling us how this is improved from Noir, and what they learned in the process.
@993cc There's no need to "preach to the choir"... From what I was told, months ago, all three alpha prototypes would be identical (save for the number of motors): During tomorrow's (06/09) webinar we should learn what will be changed between the alpha and the upcoming beta series of prototypes.
@caseymccarty There's a difference between a "backorder" and a "reservation"... The more reservations they generate, the more interested investors will be in the future of the brand.

The Webinar was great!
The following is a great car video. I wish an Aptera was substituted for the truck.

Great video & all scenes are close to my house!
