For many of you non-EV owners out there, you might not know that Sept 25 to Oct 3, 2021 is National Drive Electric Week. It is a hugely successful series of events where EV owners and new EV interested people hang out. There are a number of sponsors who host and come out to the events to show the latest in EVSA's, solar, and accessories. Most of the attendees who bring their own cars are open to letting people sit in their cars as well as take them for short drives. There is a wealth of actual hands-on, sit-in experience. Above all, it is good to hear the actual owner's experience and driving habits to see if that particular EV or plug-in hybrid matches your expectations. 2019 was the last year of full events. 2020 and 2021 were greatly affected by Covid. This year there is limits events, but I see a meeting on solid state batteries. There will be a few online presentations. For those of you who are serious of EV's and their future, it is worthwhile to participate as a huge group. Their legislative strength is formidable. We were able to get our county to set up some new charging stations in areas of charge station deserts. They are sponsored by Plug In America, the Sierra Club, Electric Auto Ass. and have great sponsors like Edison. Next year should hopefully be a good year since many of the events take 6 to 9 months to plan out. Every major city usually has a few events depending upon the geographical size. Everybody should sign up as volunteers.
