Gravel roads? Ice buildup?

I’m curious as to how the engineering staff feel the wheel covers/spats will or will not be subject to erosion on the likes of gravel roads. Most of my driving is on typical paved roads, but I also drive on gravel/sand/dirt from time to time.

Also, how likely is slush to build up and freeze in the spats/wheel covers and cause damage? I live in Wisconsin and this is an issue for three to four months a year.
