what is the footprint of the cargo area? I need the dimensions. I transport large pieces of art. My largest canvases are 72"x36"x1.5". I'm guessing, but it looks like at least three of these canvases could be stacked in the cargo area, as the width of the vehicle is about seven feet.
Currently, I have to borrow or rent trucks or vans to move these pieces.
oh. swell. we'll see. I want to see one of these things before I buy it anyway.
sounds like I can transport about 4 of these piece stacked if I drop the front seat. That's a real plus for me. Thanks for all the responses.
@laura The body of the vehicle isn't that wide: 88" is the outside dimension of the front wheels. Plus, the vehicle tapers slightly toward the rear. I think you'd be safe in assuming that the rear of the tail section cargo area will be at least 48" wide.
We've been told that the cargo area will hold two surfboards or sleep two adults so it's got to be at least 72" long. We were just informed that the cargo area of the beta prototypes will be deeper than that of the alpha prototypes but, as @#20116 implied, we don't know the actual interior directions at this time.
Aptera claims 7ft length for camping with the seats slid forward and tilted. For driving, someone on the forums estimated from photos that the flat area is more like ~58” long by ~38” wide (near the seatbelt posts) and maybe 48- 50” wide in the middle. They say the Beta models will have a bit more cargo space, but we will have to wait for final dimensions. I also don't know if the 25ft3 volume is actual total enclosed volume from their CAD or they chose to use one of the 10 different SAE specs. Probably no standard for autocycles.
Even once the "official" dimensions are released, you won't really know if something like that fits until you (or someone else) try it.
