I looked thru the 500 questions & answer sheet, but could not find reference to brake hold ?
Wanted to know if Aptera will have brake hold function as Tesla, so you can remove your foot from the brake at a stop and when accelerator is pressed brakes automatically disengage
received email from Aptera about the brake hold, they are working on this function and will have details later this year
Don't the hub motors each have a park pawl?
Tesla’s Hill Hold works any time you want it to. When you stop, over-pressing the brake pedal enables it. Releasing and pressing the brake again or pressing the accelerator releases the brakes. It does this with the hydraulic brake system. The electric “parking” brake in Tesla vehicles is used exclusively for Park as Teslas don’t have a parking pawl in the gearbox(es).
My Bolt is similar. Hill Hold only works on uphill, but uses the hydraulic system...at least for a few minutes. If you sit there for more than 5 minutes with Hill Hold (called Hill Start Assist in Chevy vehicles), the Bolt engages the electric parking brake and then slowly releases the hydraulic brakes. Pressing the accelerator releases the parking brake. Most of the time, the drive motor holds the car still unless I’m on more than a slight incline.
Aptera likely won’t have parking pawls, either, and instead use the electric parking brake to Park the car.
Most of us have 2 feet. If necessary, 1 for the right pedal & 1 for the left.
The parking pawl works on only the driven wheels.
Every other car that I know of has a parking brake on only 2 wheels.
That question was answered on a recent live stream with Elaphe motors. Yes it will. 14:30 in https://youtu.be/O-WqU2cNygQ
