Battery tech improvements are about 60% less important than any other EV, since it goes 60% further on the same battery capacity. Still important, BUT range is reduced to ZERO if another driver doesn't happen to see your front wheel:
a solid state battery would be wonderful. However, the key thing is narrowing the width enough for the vehicle to fit on the road and inside parking spaces. This is necessary for significant sales including me. About 76" max width or less please.
@barry Why do so many in this thread think that Aptera is too wide for roads, driveways, parking spaces and garages? The most popular large SUV in the US is the Jeep Grand Cherokee - the full width, from mirror to mirror, is 84.8 inches. The twin Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Suburban are both 81.4 inches wide. The best-selling pickup truck is the Ford F150 - which (with standard mirrors) is 96.8 inches wide.
@barry part of the distance between the Aptera body shell and the front wheel pants is about aerodynamics: That distance is optimized to reduce turbulence. Any closer and the vehicle would be significantly less efficient.
Chris also founded a Lithium battery company which is now public. I am sure they are on his radar. Most of the vendor discussions are under NDAs at present, but in the next few months we will start seeing announcements besides the Elaphe and Munro Associates ones.
Triggo (quadricycle) pulls its wheels in for parking! License their system and pull wheels in when going 40mph or less.

I don't need it to be THIS stable!: Click here for "track" test.
