It kind of shocks me Apple or Tesla didn't buy Aptera as well as Lit Motors. I keep feeling like Aptera and Lit Motors are the two greatest things the US has produced in decades.

Aptera has a great network of contacts through Munro and Associates. They have a very different manufacturing plan from Tesla, for instance. They do not need a conventional line with heavy and expensive tooling. If they reach a volume of 10,000 per year or so, they will likely be at around 35% margin, very different from Tesla, which is still struggling with profitability and quality issues in their production lines. This will enable them to bring on new, larger market potential vehicles.
Apple is coming out with something in '24 or '25.I think the autocycle segment is way too small for them and for Tesla. If read right, Aptera has only received about 4000 reservations so far. Unless they are working with a very flexible contract manufacturer, I don't see how this can work. You probably need 100,000 thousand orders to commit your own line.Having said that, I reserved and I want one. Hopefully, the reservations will continue to grow. A viral story is needed.
Aptera has the potential of going viral, all they need is a snowball effect story and they will get 100,000 pre orders. Something to the effect of the first electric car to cross the continent without recharging.
"Too late", will be a sliding measure. It is already too late for some, but for many we can still make a huge difference. A spread of the values behind Aptera will be a part of the solution, which will have many parts.
Considering what happened to Aptera the first time, when Chris and Steve brought in a CEO from the Big Three who did not share their vision, at the urging of their startup incubator, I don't think they are likely to give up control again.
I think Aptera is marching a good march to their investors presentation, especially given the negative impact of the pandemic:

For sure - I'm really proud of these guys. I hope Aptera takes over the world... I only hope it's not too late for the planet.
