Currently, fuel cells can add value as a range extender and reduce the over-all weight of the vehicle (like a heavy duty line-haul truck). Aptera doesn't need this since it can provide 1000 mile range with a reasonable size battery. In the future (say 2050), the demand for electricity to recharge EVs overnight may drive utilities to adapt some sort of renewable energy storage medium to deliver clean electricity at night. This storage medium could be recycled batteries or could be hydrogen plus fuel cells.
