What clear material covers the panels? Is it glass or plastic? Will whatever it is stay clear longer than what you see on the headlights of most cars which becomes dull and opaque after 3 years?

Nathan Armstrong, Aptera's lead Mechanical Engineer, said the solar cells are covered by a resin with UV protection. If you have not yet watched his interview with the Houston Electric Auto Association (HEAA) - it is well worth it.
It is “aplastic” with UV protection But I live in a state now where that is not enough, more because of the sun. I plan on using this universal plastic cleaner/protectant, which I used on the east coast on the clear 3M film I had on a car there for eleven years. It is a spray . It kept that plastic film like new In even had the clear film on my headlights as the pupurse was to protect the original painted and plastic surface fron riad debris. I did a lot of interstate miles per day:
PLEXUS seals the pores in plastic surfaces with a micro-thin layer of shiny, protective wax, making it resistant to debris, oil, scratches, and eventual yellowing. Developed for use in the aviation industry - specifically, for cleaning and protecting aircraft windshields and painted surfaces, people quickly discovered it could be used on a limitless variety of plastic surfaces. Use it on your vinyl windows, hatch covers, mirrors, laminated surfaces, eyewear, computer screens... just about any place you would normally use plastic cleaner. Its convenient aerosol applicator prevents dripping, leaking, evaporating, and coagulating at the tip of the nozzle (as is common with pumps and squeeze bottles). Plexus makes colored plastics vibrant, makes clear plastic virtually transparent, and leaves plastic paints gleaming like new.
In general any protectant overspray may become slippery on some surfaces
I use 303 on my interior and the matte black exterior parts with great success but noticed, at least in ny old bottle it contains some ingredient banned in CA
(I like that it does not leave a high gloss finish)
I did not see that same warning on Plexus
I gave not tried Plexus on my matte black finish yet

It is not glass. These cells are very light weight.
