I'd like to verify some information.
General specs:
127" long x 88" wide x 57" tall
What's the proposed weight?
I would probably use a full size trailer to transport this from our northern home to our winter location in AZ.
What would I have to do if I stored the vehicle for 6 months?
Is there any special considerations when cleaning the outside surfaces?
Are the tires going to be run flat or standard?
Any idea what a charging station would run? or is it too early to ask that question?
Aptera mentioned EU compatibility, which apparently requires it to be 2m max between the outer edges of the tire tread. I'm pretty sure it was on that topic that I first heard them mention adding a sway bar to retain stability, & it was also mentioned in the recent dragstrip video.
For EU it also apparently has to be SHORTER.
The included 120V charge-cord adds about 130 miles overnight. If you need even more than that, many other stock cords work fine on 240V, so it's quite possible that Aptera's will also plug into the same 240V outlet you'd need anyway for an aftermarket unit, giving 260 miles overnight.
Sorry Len ๐, but 6-month storage should be fine, ideally starting at around 63% State Of Charge. losing 1%/month, ending with 57%. Just like a gas car, the 12V battery is best with the negative terminal disconnected, or a trickle charger attached.
It sounds logical, but I think the constant forward motion coupled with the aerodynamics of pushing air out of the way efficiently might make a slightly anamorphic longer than wider shape make sense. Of course, this only works if the vehicle remains safely stable.
Just speculation on my part, but the possibility of making it longer might be tied to making it narrower, to balance the overall track profile for stability. Some have complained about the width in regards to parking on the street in some towns. I'm ok with the current width, but I would be more comfortable if they brought it in several inches, somewhere between 84 and 86 inches. It doesn't sound like much, but I think it would make it a more acceptable vehicle to drive and park. I think this would also help sales to those concerned about this, more sales=a stronger Aptera company.
The dimensions were originally shown as:
But there was mention of possibly making it slightly longer????
1800-2200# weight range but they are still finalizing the batteries( the heaviest item) and other items
Hey live in AZ now fulltime ( retired) but having been born and raised in NJ... I still have family there an travel to see them โ whenever โ ( well hopefully very soon again!)
So if you need someone to drive your Aptera from AZ to NJ... I am probably available and will have my Aptera driving experience to boot!
You donโt want the Aptera to sit too long without use๐
I assume they will use something like 3M vinyl wrap so you can goggle that for basic care until be know
There is no cost for your Level I charger, that is if you gave standard 110 v ( 15 amp min ) outlet where you charge I have a Level II charger, from Clipper Creek ( 220 v / 32 amp) https://clippercreek.com/
which was only about $300 (but they do have sales) and a few hundred to have my electrical install. . There is still a Federal Incentive if 30% for that if you qualify for the tax
Some states also offer a state incentive I imagine NJ is better on that than AZ
I can answer a few of these. The tires will be standard. Present run flats are too heavy. I plan to carry a mushroom type plug kit and a 12 volt air compressor to fix flats under way.
The heaviest 100 kWh Aptera will be around 2200 lbs. The 40 kWh version will weigh around 1800 lbs.
