2 of the biggest battery aging factors are high current, & deep discharge. With existing off-the-shelf batteries Aptera's efficiency already makes it 60% better in each regard, compared to any other car with the same size battery.
My 7-year old Fiat BEV has about 2.3% degradation per 10k miles. It currently gets 100 miles city range, so it would still make my US average 40-mile daily drive after over 260,000 miles. After that it would still make it if I drive a bit slower, which I probably will by that time anyway, if I'm not already driving a coffin.
Already self-charging up to 40 miles per day with current off the shelf batteries. Good enough now > forever future vaporware! I’ll take the bird in hand.
Chris Anthony also founded a battery company that is publicly traded. They probably follow the battery technical developments as closely as anyone in the industry.
