Visually it would look so much better if the wheel well and the main body were one piece. It would give it more of a fighter jet look than a quirky car or old school propeller prop plane.

I am with the "Form follows function" group here. My interest is that the design supports efficiency as much as possible. That is the company's stated goal. And secondarily, I don't think it looks bad.

I disagree. Fighter jets look dorky and old prop planes look sexy AF. THIS design looks very much like an airplane. If it were blended body, it would likely look like everything else on the road today, which look like a melted candy. Blah.
@n.bruce.nelson as long as it's easy to swap in the high efficiency fenders any time i need to leave town. I will definitely use them. As far as I'm aware any speed under 35mph won't really affect efficiency.
Depending on how it looks on the production model I am going to daily drive it with the minimal fenders such as on the old prototype. Definitely won't have any issues with ground clearance.
You have to wonder about the ability to transition from street to many parking lots. There is usually a significant dip for drainage and many cars will bottom out unless they go very slowly, so how will the wheel covers handle this?
If form follows function is beautiful to you, then the present design should be much more beautiful. Aptera is not designed to meet someone's idea of an attractive form, but to best meet the goal of minimum energy cost in actual operation. This pays off in more range under solar power and more range per hour of charging time at charging stations.

If you are traveling at highway speeds you will take a large hit on the range in so doing.

For me, the actual wheel cover design is esthetical and one of the reasons I feel attracted to the Aptera design.

Aptera could have changed many aspects of its design to look more visually appealing but that would detract from its overall efficiency.
