As Aptera has committed to Right to Repair I like to see the following features implemented:
1) An industry standard OBD2 interface.
2) Availability of a fully detailed workshop manual in print, pdf, web.
3) Availability of a spare parts catalogue preferably web based incl. cart and checkout.
4) Availability of an OBD2 workshop scanner type tablet.
5) This tablet has advanced features like read out stats, temps, volts, settings, error codes but also calibrate and update firmware, test individual components.
6) This tablet could have the required repair procedures integrated in a step-by-step fashion.
7) Aptera electronics to be implemented modular. For example for a 3WD you have 3 motor controllers.
8) To have limp-home modes on 2 or even 1 motor(s) only.
9) Currently EV owners use 3rd party software (Leaf Spy, Scan my Tesla etc.) to display vital stats on a phone or tablet. I like to see an 'engineering menue' available on the Aptera main screen.
10) I really like to see the battery temperature displayed on the main screen.
11) Since the heat exchanger(s) are implemented in the skin I like to see redundancy here.
Reason is that if you have a minor prang with the skin injured (=leaking) there is a way to continue the journey. (I live inland Australia, features like this (redundancy) can safe your life). Perhaps not an issue as skin is very strong.
12) And finally: A Ranger type of service where an Aptera trained technician travels to the customer.
Sevice and Spares are an important part in countries like Australia. Tesla is a very bad example (High mileage Model S owner here) and a good concept here will get you extra customers.
Ya, I use OBD to "baby" mine at around 3920mV/cell when parked, since that's supposedly the best storage voltage. I could just go to 60% but that gauge is much less accurate.
About the only other thing my OBD is good for is to check the min & max cell voltages periodically so when the spread gets a bit high I charge it all the way to balance them.
Besides that, unfortunately all the State Of Health numbers fluctuate wildly so they're meaningless, plummeting & then spiking to an impossible "100%" 🙄
