Room for spare tire.

The motors are in the hubs not the wheels - The wheel is just like any other wheel. The motor is in the hub like a disk brake. The wheel fits over the motor like a hat.

@Len Ha! My mental image was off. I pictured the motor being inside the rim as one piece. Good to know.

That is why they only give you a side door window that is 9" H... to avoid using fast food drive ups😉

That might interfere with the load capacity more than actually carrying a real spare tyre. lol

Nathan mentioned on a recent call that the charging ports and other items have been moved to the front so the frunk is basically non-existent in the current design.

@Mark Langenhoven that does make a lot of sense if they want to provide a decent amount of storage underneath the main cargo area. Better to have all storage on one side of the car; having it on 2 is partly why some would consider it a chore to even use the Tesla frunk at all, it's too much to wrap your head around.

I would like to hear the options like that.

As Bruce had said in a thread....an electric jack( many out there) might be a lightweight solution

They said under right to repair.... parts can be overnight to our location. So if I wanted a Aptera specific ( OEM) wheel/ tire ...I might order later unless it cost is much less upon delivery. I do like to use the same tire all around for best/safest ride ( even though you can’t see the wheel/tires under the wheel covers)

Nice to know the tire size is nothing special.

If the weight range hit is not much I might carry the spare all the time, but really want it for long trips

I hope they can use the same size tire on all three wheels as they were talking about slight bigger tire (like 205 or 215) for just the back for a better ride??.

@Len Differint size tires front to back will be a horror for those that cary a spare, swap to winter tires and such .

The long distance folks (tip of South America etc.) will run them all the same size in any case.

Shortly after taking delivery of you aptera those airless engineered tires will be available. Problem solved. Just carry a plastic welding kit with you.

I have over 400 thousand miles on motorcycles and have carried a plug kit most of those miles. I have repaired just as many or more car tires along the way as I have needed for my bikes. I don't think there is a problem here.

@n.bruce.nelson How do you find where the leak is? Do you also carry around soapy water to see where it bubbles or something? Would you share some hints for the clueless wonders like me? The only way that I would know is if the leak is obvious. I won;t have a large pan of water to put the tyre into to see where the leak is. But you have 400 thousand miles of experience doing this. What should we expect to do and how to troubleshoot? I think I might want to avoid using goopy Fix-A-Flat. lol 😂

A "Donut" wheel and tire is a lot better than a can of goo. It will get you to a tire dealer. With the light weight of the Aptera it could be light and thin.

Yes. Good for city folks.😉 Since the standard tire profile within the wheel covers only provided about 5.5” GC, unless you have the Off Road option....For only my long trips I am taking the range hit to have a full size spare! Glad they are planning to lower the cargo deck, which will help there too!
