Perfect is the enemy of good. My wish is that Aptera would focus on making the design practical and cheap to manufacture, so we get to buy SOMETHING, even if it's not as great as advertised. I can think of at least 2 companies that managed to start selling street-legal 3-wheel electric cars in the US: Acrimoto and Vanderhall. They are more conventional designs than the Aptera but they are out there. I hope you learn from their successes and do whatever it takes to bring the Aptera to market, even if it means descoping the specs.

he he its this reminder again that keeps appearing on the forum
I agree with Ken Kobayashi & Ed Sprole & M J above - #Aptera should actually consider and seriously listen to what is being asked here: Keep on developing and make perfect and comply etc BUT there are many people that would buy the #Aptera in it's current form just to get an #Aptera. This sales approach and producing one-offs could help with company cash flow and even fund some of the new research & developments required. It will also highlight constraints or bottle necks in the manufacturing process and assembly lines before the #Aptera go into full production. This way they will actually sell some as apposed to none.
I love the vehicle as it is. I want an efficient long range vehicle. The Arcimoto is a good vehicle, but the highway range is very low and does not have an isolated climate controlled interior. It is somewhat annoying to see all the weird suggestions. The Aptera is what it it is and is good as it is. There are reasonable things we hope for, like a heat pump instead of resistance heat. However, if you want pink polka dots and a disco ball, that's what aftermarket mods are for.
Idea of the vehicle is something that I have been in love for long time, highway capable, aerodynamic, electric vehicle for 2 or 3 people. Too many similar vehicle have failed before manufacturing. Width of Aptera is something that I wonder. Is it truly needed or is it side effect of taking smaller tadpole design and scaling it up? I truly understand it in Arcimoto style of vehicle, but they are sitting behind each other, not side by side. Long story short, Aptera's track width would likely be sufficiently wide in stability stand point even if it would be less than 2000 mm wide. Such a change in plan would postpone start of the manufacturing, so I believe that is not feasible.
Completely agree. I would hands down take a good car instead of waiting for a perfect car to "someday" be built. A good car design is realistic, practical and possible (and I'm talking about the subject of manufacturing - hopefully Munro & Assoc. will help this greatly). So: Realistic to manufacture, practical to manufacture and possible to manufacture = REAL
Is Don saying that to win you have to overpromise rather than deliver? The need to out-engineer someone else to get noticed sounds like a bunch of wolves all wanting to be the Alpha. Aptera has a unique design that should stand on its own. The solar charging feature is a great step towards what Don is saying without taking things too far (non-ending design changes to conform to everyone's wish lists).
There has been a lot of vaporware that never makes it to market because of unrealistic design choices and promises (ie. Nikola, etc.). CGI renderings are inspiring, but having a good car in my garage, ready for a real drive, is far more inspiring. Aptera, please be careful pursuing design changes and promising too much at this point. You will run out of money and there is a lot of people watching how this goes. "We" really want the vehicle in our driveways. Gen 2/Model YR2 can be even better. Wish I could help beyond just being an investor and pre-order customer.
Being in CA could be fatal. Get out before it's too late. The business atmosphere is extremely hostile coupled with an authoritarian governor.
