I hope I am not repeating an idea made in another post, but as long as there is a backlit glogo on the car, it might be fun if instead of using a white LED projecting through a green tinted cover, they used a multicolor LED projecting through a clear Logo cover, and made the color programmable. People could then either program the color to be one that matches the paint or a color that they like. The light could also change colors for different holidays, orange/purple for halloween, red/green for Christmas, etc.. I realize it messes with their branding a little, but I think it would be a good trade to help expand the market to people who are driven less by engineering first principles and have more of an artistic flair.

I said a Ring. I was thinking more of a Arc under the logo that would act like a fuel gauge and provide a exterior indicator of the cars charge state. It should be integrated with the logo. A series of bars in an arc maybe.
That way you dont have to get in the car to check. Yeah, if you have a phone, you can probably check it there. I rarely have a phone on me. This would much simpler.
Agreed. A philosophy of making things serve multiple purposes is essential to building a simple, light and efficient car.
I think what is interesting is that the logo seems to be completely flush and seamless with the body.
I do like the idea of the charge indicator lights. Perhaps if smaller bars were used, it would pass the requirements. Or a small Ring around the green symbol.

how cool would it be if the glogo would change colors depending on how much you were mashing on the go-pedal? bright green for eco-minded cruising and a deep dark crimson red if you were showing a dodge challenger who's boss.
RGB LEDs could allow the owner to change the color at will and even use the glogo to indicate state of charge, charging, autopilot engaged etc.
Good thought on the legality of the glogo. Maybe there are certain colors that have to be excluded since they have significance for other reasons.
I feel people will already be pulled over for having a green light visible on the vehicle so changing the light to another color will be just as illegal. You could use a colored vinyl wrap to change the color or if you are mechanically inclined you could attempt to change the led to one that is RGB.
I think you are pointing to the three battery indicator lights. I was referring to the green logo.
