Driver information screens

Did you know Ford was planning for a single large center infotainment screen for their Mustang Mach-e, similar to Tesla Model 3/Y, and based on customer feedback added a screen in front of the driver for relevant driving information?. Prospective customers did not like having only one screen in the middle.

I will continue to press for that in Aptera.

Let’s make it easy for Aptera drivers!

Our plug in Prius has a HUD and it works pretty well....except when I am wearing sunglasses with polarized lenses. That aside I agree that it is a good option that I think many would opt for.

@n.bruce.nelson Interesting - how does a phone based HUD work? On the Prius the data is projected off the windscreen from a display that is mounted horizontally at the base. From the angles involved I would suspect that there are adjustments made so that what is seen by the driver is properly proportioned.

@#20116 I guess built in HUDs look so much neater. If the one in our Prius is turned off there is nothing to tell you that it exists. That being said Toyota's navigation system sucks very badly. It is almost worthless. The Nav system was our biggest disappointment going from our old 2004 Prius (300,000 miles!) to the 2017 model. The old system was actually better even though the map info was much older. I think you really have to work had to come up with a NAV system less accurate than the Toyota one (\rant)

A head up display of important information such as speed, charge/miles remaining, driver assist data, and navigation information would obviate the need to take one's eyes off the road to check for information, making driving much more convenient and safer. I would pay extra for such as feature. I am very excited about the Aptera Paradigm, but I would have to think hard about purchasing a vehicle with no driver display.
