Thanks Duane! I skipped straight to the 22:ish mark & the 3rd casting they're discussing is the "Structural Battery Pack".
They say people don't get it but it's just like a motorbike where the engine is part of the frame, with the rest just bolted onto it.
Or if you're more familiar with uni-body car construction, it's like using the body as a structural component instead of just bolting it onto a heavy frame underneath.
I'm not sure if/how this could apply to Aptera's fully-monocoque structure, but even without that, it's already super light & strong. A better way for Aptera to save battery pack weight is likely the new "Cell-To-Pack" construction, where the whole pack is basically built as one unit without each cell having its own case.
